Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Clinical Neuroscience Lab

We are the Clinical Neuroscience Lab at The Ohio State University! Our team studies how the brain changes as we age, and how we can help support healthy aging through practices that strengthen both the mind and body, such as mindfulness.

In the image you see here, we generated a map of brain connections that predict when you are off daydreaming or mind wandering. While a little mind wandering is normal, frequent lapses can make our performance on tasks less consistent. Interestingly, older adults often report that they mind-wander less, even though their task performance becomes more variable. These same networks can also help predict markers for Alzheimer’s disease, suggesting that understanding mind wandering may give us new insights into brain health and aging.
