We are thrilled that Caitlin Cunningham has decided to stay at Ohio State and start graduate school in the Cognitive Neuroscience program with Dr. Julie Golomb. Caitlin has been the lab manager for Dr. Golomb’s Vision & Cognitive Neuroscience Lab and an engaged member of CCBBI for the past two years. She serves on the CCBBI Outreach Committee and generously volunteers her time at CCBBI events. In recognition of outstanding achievement and promise, Caitlin has been awarded both the prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and the Ohio State Distinguished University Fellowship.

Tell us a little about your research interests. 
 

My research interests are related to the factors that influence visual perception, specifically how memory and perception interact. Currently, I'm interested in using eye movements, behavior, and neuroimaging to investigate how we direct attention within and between memory and perception. 
 

Why did you decide to do your graduate work at OSU with Dr. Golomb?

Throughout the interview process for grad school, I quickly learned that both the resources and the community at OSU are unmatched. The technology, expertise, and interest in neuroimaging at CCBBI made me excited to dive into fMRI research here. Dr. Golomb is an incredible mentor, and her lab is pursuing research questions that I'm very excited about. Plus, Columbus is a great city!

What excites you most about grad school?

In grad school, I'm excited to take the skills I've learned through my lab manager position and apply them to experiments of my own design. I'm especially excited to use fMRI, EEG, and maybe even TMS in my research, adding a neuroimaging perspective to the theoretical questions I'm interested in. I'm also looking forward to taking courses and expanding my theoretical and technical expertise.
