The Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Brain Imaging (CCBBI) is a dedicated research facility that supports researchers from across The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital in their pursuit to understand how the brain develops and functions. One component of these projects is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) which shows anatomical features of the brain and functional MRI (fMRI) which provides insight into how the brain functions and processes information.
Research at CCBBI include:
- understanding how the brain develops
- studying how repeated head impacts affect brain development
- identifying health and behavioral variables that accelerate or protect against cognitive and brain aging
- understanding how mind-body interventions, like mindfulness meditation or exercise, affect brain aging and function
- understanding how caregiving for a spouse with dementia impacts one's own working memory and cognition
- understanding why people have suicidal thoughts

MRI is a very safe technology. Visit the CCBBI Participant Info page for more details about being a participant in an MRI experiment.
