April 4 fMRI Talk

Dr. Esterman is the April 2025 speaker for CCBBI's fMRI Talk series

Our April 4 fMRI Talk speaker was Dr. Michael Esterman, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a Principal Investigator at the National Center for PTSD within the VA Boston Healthcare System. He co-founded the Boston Attention and Learning Laboratory and serves as the Associate Director of the Neuroimaging Research for Veterans Center (NeRVe) at VA Boston. His research employs various cognitive neuroscience techniques, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and non-invasive brain stimulation, to explore the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying attentional control and distractibility. Dr. Esterman's work encompasses studies on healthy individuals across the lifespan and extends to patients with a range of neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders.
